Extended Family Photos at the Uxbridge Historical Centre

I had so much fun doing a spring extended family session at the Uxbridge Historical Centre! Extended family photos always seem to have a more relaxed feel with plenty of time for kids to relax and play with cousins between photos.

If you’re looking for a fun family activity in Uxbridge, consider getting photos done together!

I know, you hear “photos” and think it sounds anything but fun, but trust me on this one. Having some of your favourite people present can help make family photos feel a little more lighthearted. I try to leave lots of time for kids to relax and play between grabbing all the shots we need. This results in photos that feel a lot more natural, and a fun family memory on top of it!

Here’s how an extended family session typically works:

We meet at the chosen location, and I begin by photographing whichever family arrives first. This helps ease everyone into the session without feeling rushed. Once everyone has arrived, we’ll get a picture of the entire group. Next, we’ll work through the combinations you’ve requested (grandparents with grandkids, all the grandkids together, individual families, and any other groupings you’d like). Last, we’ll finish up with the remaining individual families, allowing kids time to play and relax between photos.

Throughout the session, kids are free to run, explore, snack, and connect with their cousins. They don’t need to be “on” the entire time, and honestly, I love trying to catch some of the sweet moments happening in between the planned shots.

An extended family session can also help offset the cost if you plan to split it between you and your siblings.

If you’ve been avoiding family photos because of the stress, an extended family photoshoot is a great way to start! It can be relaxed, fun, and create memories you didn’t know you needed!
